Former Chief Minister and YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is in hibernation mode after the party’s dismal show in the recent assembly elections. Barring a few public appearances, Jagan hasn’t cared much either about the party’s future or the welfare of his cadre. He is maintaining a low profile and mostly confined to his Tadepalli palace and Bengaluru residence in the last one month without coming out. He skipped the assembly elections and organised low-key celebrations for his father YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s birth anniversary.
While the ruling party under Chandrababu Naidu is going hammer and thongs and unearthing several irregularities committed by the previous government day in and day out, being the party chief who led the state in the last five years, it is quite surprising that Jagan is preferring to stay silent without any reaction on various allegations that are being made by his opponents.
While Jagan might have got no guts to counter the allegations of TDP and its allies, the YSRCP cadre is deeply upset with the way he has been acting after the election results. Many supporters of YS Jagan are very disappointed with their leader’s approach when the party is out of power. The cadre is also unhappy with the fact that all those prominent leaders in the party who stood by Jagan all these years also went into silence mode after the elections.
YSRCP cadre feels that Jagan’s silence will damage the party’s image further and undermine the chances of comeback in the future because public will completely forget the party and its leaders if they don’t remain accessible in the next five years.
After the election results, Jagan appeared before the media only on a few of occasions. He skipped the assembly sessions and went to Bengaluru to spend a week there with his family. Again, he is once again going to Bengaluru shortly and there is no news about his return and whether he will attend the upcoming assembly budget sessions is also not known.
If Jagan continues the same approach, there are chances that the cadre will lose hopes and start disowning the party with frustration.
