Jagan warns Rs 100 cr Defamation suit Against Two News papers

Thursday, November 28, 2024

Former Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy expressed his anger over the allegations that his name is in the case registered in the US against prominent businessman Gautam Adani. He made it clear that his name is nowhere in those allegations, that it is very stupid publicity, and that some people are deliberately doing it.

He clarified that this is an agreement between the AP government, DISCOMs, and the Central Government (SEKI). He warned that he will file a defamation case against those who are spreading false propaganda against him. He flagged that two media organizations working for the TDP are distorting the facts and writing lies again and again.

He revealed that his name is nowhere in that case, but those two media organizations are spreading lies to damage his reputation, and he will send legal notices to them. He also imposed a deadline on the two newspapers that are writing false articles against him. He is giving them 48 hours.

He has warned that if an apology is not issued by then, he will file a defamation suit for Rs. 100 crore. Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed his astonishment at the mudslinging and writing on this cheapest deal that will go down in AP history.

He asserted that this was just an agreement between two governments, nowhere involving a third party. He said that the Andhra Pradesh government would save Rs. 4,400 crore per year under this agreement and up to Rs. 1 lakh crore in the next few years. He clarified that there is no scope for corruption in this.

Moreover, he clarified that the Center had said that it would provide it at Rs. 2.49, which is the lowest price agreement in the history of AP.

He said that if Chandrababu Naidu incurred an additional burden of Rs 2,000 crore due to the PPAs made by him, his government’s decision saved it. Is Chandrababu good for signing a contract for Rs 5.90 per unit of electricity? Am I a good person for signing a contract for Rs 2.49 per unit?, he asked.

Jagan said that this contract was also discussed at length in the cabinet and a decision was taken. YS Jagan, who said that providing free electricity to farmers is a dream, said that the DISCOMs have been damaged under Chandrababu’s rule. He alleged that if the DISCOMs had dues of Rs 29,000 crore before Chandrababu came to power, by the time Chandrababu stepped down, these dues and debts had reached Rs 86,000 crore.

YS Jagan said that his government had called tenders for the establishment of solar parks with the aim of providing relief to the farmers without putting a burden on the DISCOMs and the government. In November 2020, tenders were called under the auspices of the AP Green Energy Corporation, and out of those tenders, Rs 1,000 crore was awarded.

He said  that about 24 bids were submitted to supply from 2.49 paise to Rs. 2.58 paise. However, YS Jagan alleged that Chandrababu obstructed it. AP was burdened with additional wind and solar power agreements made during Chandrababu’s tenure. Chandrababu’s PPAs caused a burden of Rs. 2,000 crores. An additional Rs. 3.41 crore had to be paid, he added.
