YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) President Jagan Mohan Reddy visited the injured victims of the stampede that occurred last night at the Vaikunta Dwaram token distribution centers in Tirupati. The injured are currently receiving treatment at the Tirupati SVIMS hospital. Jagan interacted with the victims, inquiring about the incident and discussing their treatment with the hospital staff.
Speaking to the media, Jagan criticized the state government, attributing the tragic incident to its failure. He called for the government to take full responsibility for the stampede and demanded immediate action.
Jagan also stressed the need for compensation, urging the government to provide an ex-gratia amount of ₹50 lakh to the families of the deceased. Additionally, he demanded that the government offer free medical treatment to all injured victims, as their injuries were a result of government negligence. He further recommended providing ₹5 lakh to each injured individual upon their recovery and discharge from the hospital.
