Former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has strongly criticized the government for its inability to maintain law and order, especially regarding the alarming surge in crimes against women in the state. He has called on Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to take responsibility for these serious issues. Citing a recent incident in Pithapuram, where a TDP leader was accused in a rape case, Jagan expressed dismay over Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s failure to reach out to the victim.
During a visit to the Guntur Government Hospital, Jagan consoled the family of a victim who tragically died from injuries sustained in an assault in Tenali. He condemned the government’s inadequate response to rising violence against women, holding Naidu accountable for the lack of action. Jagan emphasized that the signs of the attack on the young woman were evident, yet the government has remained silent. He noted that a TDP leader only offered condolences after learning of his visit, which he found disingenuous. Additionally, he criticized the local minister for neglecting to address the ongoing crisis.
Accusing a TDP worker of involvement in the Tenali incident, Jagan highlighted similar crimes in Hindupur, Badvel, and Srikakulam, asserting that TDP leaders are complicit in these acts. He reiterated his disappointment in Pawan Kalyan for not responding after a TDP leader was implicated in the Pithapuram sexual assault case. Jagan also mentioned a distressing gang rape involving a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law in Hindupur, pointing out Nandamuri Balakrishna’s lack of condolences. Furthermore, he expressed concern about the Home Minister’s silence on these critical matters.
In a bid to support victims, Jagan announced that his party would provide ₹10 lakh in financial aid to each affected individual. He criticized the government for operating under a “Red Book” governance model, revealing that there have been 77 reported cases of violence against women in just the last four months, including seven murders and four suicides. Jagan also condemned the police for their failure to intervene and prevent the violence linked to TDP leaders, demanding immediate action to protect the state’s citizens.
