Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has been named as an accused in the death case of Cheeli Singayya, Guntur SP Satish Kumar confirmed during a press briefing held at the district police office on Sunday night. The incident occurred on June 18 during Jagan’s tour of Palnadu, when Singayya was found severely injured by the roadside near Etukuru Road in Guntur. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Based on a complaint filed by his wife Lourdes, police initially registered a case and began an investigation.
SP Satish Kumar stated that CCTV footage, drone visuals, and videos recorded by bystanders were reviewed, which confirmed that Singayya was run over by Jagan’s vehicle. Following this evidence, the case sections were altered, and a revised FIR was registered. The accused now include former CM Jagan, his car driver Ramana Reddy, PA Nageswara Reddy, MP YV Subba Reddy, and former ministers Perni Nani and Vidadala Rajini. SP Kumar added that while permission was granted for 14 vehicles in Jagan’s convoy from Tadepalli to Sattenapalli, over 50 vehicles were part of the rally. He assured that legal action will be taken based on the available evidence.
