At a time, the AP CID claiming of obtaining crucial evidences in liquor scam during YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s regime and given indications that it is about to arrest key persons in this scam, including YCP’s parliamentary party leader P Mithun Reddy, the sudden meeting of TDP parliamentary party leader Lavu Srikrishna Devarayalu with union home minister Amit Shah and seeking ED probe into it giving scope to several apprehensions.
Moreover, Amit Shah seeking details of the scam was also not trusted by anyone, as all the corrupt practices of Jaganmohan Reddy’s regime went without any hindrance only with the active collusion of the central government, that too of Amit Shah. With the little progress in CBI and ED cases against Jaganmohan Reddy it is evident that the central government is not showing interest to act against the former chief minister.
Under these circumstances, it is believed that the Chandrababu Naidu-led coalition government in the state is hesitating to act against the former chief minister or his confident associates without the approval of Amit Shah. If the AP CID feels sufficient grounds for an ED probe it can directly write a letter to the union home ministry and a TDP MP need not request in this regard.
It may be recalled that even before last year’s Lok Sabha elections it was state BJP chief Minister Daggubati Purendeswari, who had directly complained to Home Minister Amit Shah about the liquor scam going on in AP along with several pieces of evidence. Not only that, she also asked for a CBI inquiry into this. However, it is known that there has been no action from the BJP government at the center.
Moreover, Amit Shah himself accused the Jaganmohan Reddy’s regime of scamming in liquor, sand and lands in a public meeting held in Andhra Pradesh before the elections. It is known that after the coalition government came to power in Andhra Pradesh, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed on the liquor scam that went on during the Jagan regime.
This clearly indicates that both the central and state government are having clear evidence with regard to AP’s liquor scam. But it is amazing none is moving forward in this regard. When Mithun Reddy approached the AP High Court seeking anticipatory bail in this case, it may be recalled that the government advocate informed that till now his name was mentioned in the FIR and there is no case against him.
The same story is repeated in the CBI probe into YS Vivekananda Reddy’s murder case. Vivekananda’s daughter Dr Sunitha Reddy was forced to approach the Telangana High Court complaining of little progress in CBI’s probe. As Jaganmohan Reddy’s cousin brother Avinash Reddy is said to be key accused in this case, it is believed that the Center is not keen to move fast in this case also.
