TDP chief and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has been accusing YCP and former chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy of conspiring to demolish the Krisha barrage for the past few days. Alleging that the boats that hit the barrage have YCP colours. Some of the boat owners have already been arrested.
If as alleged by Chandrababu Naidu, the YCP had conspired to demolish the Krishna Barrage, there would have been nothing worse than that. But if the government has evidence in this matter, as TDP says on its official Facebook page, a case should be filed against Jaganmohan Reddy along with Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, Talashila Raghuram and Nandigam Suresh in this matter.
Without acting against conspirators, even TDP cadres wonder what is the use of posting on TDP’s Facebook page. By saying that it is a conspiracy to demolish the Prakasam barrage so officially on the TDP page, but not registering any case against them may only dent the credibility of the government.
A senior TDP leader commented that such a laxity will send a wrong signal to the people stating that their tirade against Jaganmohan Reddy and leaders like Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy is only for public consumption and the government is not prepare to act firmly against their irregularities and conspiracies. He fears that such an attitude will harm TDP’s politically.
In the beginning, allegations against Jagan’s conspiracy to damage Krishna Barrage did not surprise anyone in view of his track record. It may be recalled that during Jagan’s regime, the then Chief Secretary of the Water Resources Department had alerted the government against negligence towards management of Annamayya project.
But, the then YCP government did not pay any attention towards the warning, which caused immense damage to the project, resulting in loss of life and properties. The then Union Jal Shakthi Minister also said in the Parliament that the then YCP government was negligent in this regard.
