The first 100-days of the TDP-led alliance government has faced imaginary hurdles in governance due to an anarchistic regime left over by YS Jaganmohan Reddy after major projects were kept in cold storage, no financial reserves were left over and huge amounts of pending bills haunting them.
However, with the vast administrative experience of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, liberal assistance extended by the Narendra Modi-led union government and perfect coordination between three alliance partners, the government succeeded in installing a confidence that it can complete several key projects.
Whether Polavaram project, Amaravati capital region, or Visakha Railway Zone, besides unprecedented floods rocked Vijayawada city, the governments’ initiatives helped people to reconfirm their faith in the government.
The government has also succeeded in creating an environment where people can enjoy peace by turning a blind eye to the anarchic conditions prevailing in the state during the YCP regime. Chandrababu’s government, which is leading the joint alliance of TDP, Jana Sena and BJP, is completing 100 days of rule on Thursday.
Although the100 days’ time is a short period, this government has undertaken some prestigious programs within these few days. The previous YCP government too five years to enhance pension for poor people to Rs 1,000, but soon after formation of the new government, the amount was raised to four fold, Rs 4,000 though the state treasury was practically in very bad condition.
The government also paid the enhanced amount from April onwards, thus atone it paid Rs 7,000 to each family. For the first time those families received such a lump sum amount from the government. Also pension for disabled was raised and for the first time in recent years the government employees are receiving their salaries on the first of the month.
The re-opening of the Anna canteens by the coalition government in the second month after coming to power filled the common people with joy. The coalition government was able to breathe life into the prestigious Amaravati and Polavaram projects within the first hundred days of coming to power.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is trying his best to take advantage of the strength of TDP MPs this time for the NDA alliance to remain in power at the Centre. This has been reflected in the center making Rs 15,000 crore loan from external agencies and also clearance of arrears for Polavaram. Moreover, for the first time the center committed in the parliament that it will be its responsibility to complete Amaravati city.
The state government’s spontaneous response in rescue operations towards Vijayawada floods has attracted the attention of the center, even the army personnel.
