The unexpected hype created by BJP candidate K Madhavi Latha, contesting from Hyderabad against AIMIM stalwart Asaduddin Owaisi is slowly fading away with the BJP proved to be nowhere matching to Owaisi brothers at the field level.
Madhavi Latha, who is new to politics and hardly has any access with BJP cadre, besides ignorance with election machinery succeeded in creating hype through a series of social media interviews that she is going to win from here.
But her social media hype led to create more and more controversies rather than helping him to consolidate as a matching candidate to Owaisi. This forced BJP national leadership to ask her to stop interacting with YouTube channels and make high claims.
Moreover, the BJP leadership expected that as an industrialist she can mobilize huge resources for the campaign, stunned to realize her family’s inclination in spending heavily for her success.
The BJP leadership even made her nomination filing programme a grand event with union Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur taking part in the rally.
However, now reports are coming that it would be difficult for the BJP to dent Owaisi’s vote bank and that she is also failing in consolidation of Hindu vote share, as BJP cadre themselves are not showing much interest.
Sources in the party say in the absence of a strong BJP leader in the Old City, the Hindu voters have no one to look up to for support not only during the polls, but even otherwise. Though Goshamahal BJP MLA T Rama SIngh is popular among the Hindu population, his influence is limited to his constituency and to some pockets of Old City.
Raja Singh is also reportedly not so happy with the party nominating Madhavi Latha. On the other hand, the Owaisi brothers are always accessible to everyone in the segment. AIMIM MLAs and corporators are always available for the voters when they need them. But BJP leaders are known to approach them only during election time or some Hindu festivals.
Moreover, BJP leaders are of the view that the present Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s onslaught against Musim community in degrading his main political opponent Rahul Gandhi strengthened further waisi hold over Muslims.
