Telangana High Court expressed strong displeasure with HYDRA over its handling of demolitions in Khajaguda Brahmanakunta. The court reacted sharply to demolitions conducted within 24 hours of issuing notices, questioning the lack of adequate time for responses.
Despite prior instructions from the court regarding proper procedures, HYDRA allegedly repeated the same practices. The court warned that if such actions continue, HYDRA’s commissioner AV Ranganath might be summoned again.
After hearing the arguments on this occasion, the judge K Lakshman questioned how they are saying that the land they have demolished is within the FTL area? Do they have evidence? Does the petitioner have all the documents?, it asked.
He questioned how they can carry out demolitions without determining the FTL and buffer zone area? The judge told the commissioner to stop the demolitions. Otherwise, they issued warnings in a stern tone that they will deal with them as they are supposed to.
The judge warned that serious action will have to be taken against Commissioner Ranganath if such things happen again. At the same time, the High Court bench also gave key orders to the petitioner. It said to the petitioner that no construction should be done without the permission of the GHMC.
The High Court bench has issued clear orders that the petitioner should also remove the temporary fencing put up by him within 24 hours. Earlier in the day, HYDRA started demolitions of alleged illegal structures in the Khajaguda Bhagirathamma and Tautan Kunta tanks in Gachibowli.
HYDRA staff demolished the structures in the tank FTL and buffer zone. Illegal constructions were undertaken in nine acres and seven pits in Khajaguda Survey No. 18 FTL and buffer zone. Encroachments on two tanks were removed and 10 acres of government land was acquired.
The authorities removed more than 20 shops after examining the complaints given by the locals. Heavy security was taken up in the wake of the demolitions. On the other hand, the traders expressed their anger over the demolition of the shops within 24 hours of the notices being given. They complained about how they could vacate in such a short time?
