High Court Shock for Kasireddy in Liquor Scam Case

Wednesday, April 9, 2025

The Andhra Pradesh liquor scandal is seeing stepped-up action as the CID keeps up its investigation in the background. With many key people already issued legal notices, the heat is on. They have sought relief in the High Court—but to no avail. The court has rejected their appeal time and again, declining to extend interim protection or favorable orders.

In a dramatic turn of events, Rajya Sabha MP Vijayasai Reddy has named Kasireddy Rajasekhar Reddy outright as one of the prime masterminds in the suspected liquor syndicate. The CID had already targeted Rajasekhar Reddy, issuing him notices on his suspected role. In an attempt to escape legal repercussions, Rajasekhar filed a petition in the High Court seeking interim relief. But the court rejected his petition, sending a clear message that such protection cannot be extended in serious cases of public interest.

Rajasekhar Reddy, who was once the IT advisor to Andhra Pradesh former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, is now under intense scrutiny. He is accused of misusing sensitive personal data gathered by village volunteers, according to reliable sources. Accounts indicate this data had been kept in his organization and purportedly used for business and alcohol-related transactions. With growing evidence and Vijayasai Reddy having openly accused him, rumors in political circles indicate his impending arrest.

Meanwhile, the CID’s investigation has already led to key disclosures. Ex-MD of Andhra Pradesh Beverages Corporation Limited (APBCL), Donthireddy Vasudeva Reddy, is said to have made comprehensive statements over a period of days. He is also said to have deposed before a magistrate, revealing the operations behind the scam. These are said to have shaken some members of the ruling party, especially those under suspicion of involvement.

Adding to the drama, YSRCP MP Mithun Reddy’s bid for anticipatory bail in regards to the same case was also rejected by the High Court. As the legal noose is tightening around major political leaders, the probe seems to be reaching the culminating point.

The unfolding of the AP liquor scam has not only caused a political storm but also raised some serious questions regarding misuse of data, transparency, and abuse of authority. With the CID digging deeper into the case, more names are likely to emerge—making this one of the most-watched political probes in recent times.
