Hidden Camera Scandal: CMR College Chairman Chamakura Gopal Reddy Named In Case

Monday, January 6, 2025

In a shocking incident at CMR College, hidden cameras were found in the bathrooms of a girls’ hostel, which led to widespread protests and outrage. Chamakura Gopal Reddy, the college chairman and brother of former minister and Medchal MLA Malla Reddy, has been named as one of the accused due to his role as the head of the institution.

The police have arrested two suspects, Nanda Kishore and Govind Kumar, who were working as cooks in the hostel. The two suspects are originally from Bihar and are accused of secretly installing the cameras. It was a shocking discovery by female students on New Year’s Day that led to large-scale protests demanding accountability and swift action.

This alarming breach of privacy has brought the safety and security of students under the scanner, leading the Telangana Women’s Commission to take up an independent inquiry. Along with Gopal Reddy, the college principal and hostel wardens have also been chargesheeted, which points to the negligence of the management in keeping the welfare of students safe.

As the protests spread throughout the state, the police investigation into the case intensified, and it was treated as a priority. The authorities have assured strict action against all those involved, including people in the management, to ensure justice is served.

The incident, of course, leaves a grave reminder of the imperative need to enforce stronger security measures and supervisions in the academic institutions that may prevent similar breaches. Official probes are on the way as officers vow to see justice is done and some measure of security regained for the concerned students.
