The ruling party of Andhra Pradesh, YSRCP has made it a habit to get brickbats from the High Court regarding its governance. The AP Government which shocked all the opposition parties with its recent GO-1 got a major setback by the High Court of Andhra Pradesh.
It is a known fact that Jagan Sarkar brought in the Government Order-1/2023 that stops all public figures and politicians from having road shows, meetings, and rallies reminding us of the days of British rule. They backed their GO by pointing at the two stampedes of TDP’s meetings that resulted in the deaths of commoners. The rule not only irked all the Opposition leaders of all the parties of AP but also made the TDP Chief sit on the road protesting against the Police who stopped him from his Kuppam road show.
CPI’s General secretary Rama Krishna filed a petition in the High Court of Andhra Pradesh against this GO and the court immediately heard the arguments only to give a much-needed stay on this GO. The Judge stated that the GO-1/2023 violates the basic fundamental rights of people and issued a stay on it until the 23rd of this month and directed the AP Government to file a counter. Sources say that even after AP Government’s counter-filing, chances are likely that the GO would be suspended permanently as it has fewer moral and legal grounds as it completely prevents everyone from practicing their fundamental rights as a citizen of India.
