Harish Rao Criticizes Revanth Reddy Over Loan Waiver Issues

Saturday, September 7, 2024
Hyderabad: Former minister and BRS MLA Harish Rao has sharply criticized Chief Minister Revanth Reddy regarding the ongoing farm loan waiver process. In a series of tweets, Harish Rao alleged that farmers are being harassed by banks over loan waivers, which are purportedly conditional on paying interest first.
Harish Rao highlighted his concerns on the X platform, tagging Revanth Reddy’s office in his posts. He condemned the delay in the loan waiver process, noting that the promise made on December 9 had not been fulfilled even after seven months. Farmers are reportedly facing difficulties as banks demand payment of accrued interest before processing loan waivers. Harish Rao questioned the effectiveness of the government’s loan waiver scheme, expressing frustration over the additional financial burden placed on farmers.
He called on the government to address the issue urgently, insisting that it should cover the interest from December to July, rather than burdening farmers with these costs. Harish Rao also shared specific grievances from farmers, including a case from Shivampet Mandal in Narsapur constituency and Chigurumamidi Mandal in Karimnagar district, who reported that banks demanded interest payments before closing their accounts.
Harish Rao tagged the Telangana Chief Minister’s Office, urging immediate action to resolve these issues and ensure that farmers’ concerns are addressed.
