Senior IPS officer PSR Anjaneyulu, an accused in the case of torturing former MP and current Assembly Deputy Speaker Raghurama Krishnam Raju in CID custody, has suffered a setback in the Guntur court. The Guntur Second Additional District Judge’s Court dismissed his petition for anticipatory bail.

Police investigation revealed that the then CID DIG Mekavat Sunil Kumar Nayak was also present when Raghurama was tortured. With this, his name was added to the CD file. Sunil Nayak was brought to the state on deputation from Odisha by the Jaganmohan Reddy’s government and appointed as CID DIG. After the completion of the deputation, he left there.

After the police found his role in the torture of Raghurama, he filed a petition in the Odisha High Court (Cuttack) and took a protection order on the 9th of last month. Meanwhile, Prakasam District SP AR Damodar, who is the investigating officer, has already filed a petition in the High Court stating that Sunil Nayak has a role in this case and that he needs to be questioned, and therefore, the protection order should be canceled.

On the other hand, PSR Anjaneyulu approached the Guntur court for anticipatory bail. After hearing the arguments of both the parties, the magistrate on Thursday dismissed PSR’s anticipatory bail petition and gave the order.

Moreover, the High Court has extended the interim bail of senior IPS officer PSR Anjaneyulu for another two months in a case registered against him for allegedly committing irregularities in the evaluation of the APPSC Group-1 Mains exam and misappropriating funds.

Meanwhile, a petition filed by Madhusudhan (A2), director of Camsign, seeking bail in the same case came up for hearing in the High Court. Senior advocate YV Ravi Prasad argued on behalf of the petitioner. The petitioner is suffering from gall bladder and kidney related diseases. The jail authorities are not providing any treatment.

Taking these details into consideration, the judge, Justice Y. Lakshmana Rao, ordered the Vijayawada District Jail Superintendent to get the petitioner medically examined at a government hospital and place the report before the court. The hearing was adjourned to July 1.
