While former chief minister YCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy proposed to visit Tirumala on September 28 in the midst of controversy over supply of adulterated ghee in preparation of Laddu prasadam during his regime at Tirumala, protests marked opposing his visit.
Srinivasa Ananda Swamiji along with many swamis protested at Alipiri on Thursday giving slogans `Go back Christian Jagan’. They raised slogans with playing cards saying Go Back Christian Jagan. They questioned why Jagan, who did not come with his wife for five years as Chief Minister and presented silk clothes, is now coming to Tirumala?
Remaining calm when many temples were attacked in the state, why now anxiety over the sanctity of Tirumala?, he asked and wondered with what face he is coming here?
Swamiji made it clear that they will block Jagan’s visit to Tirumala and if Jagan is determined to visit Tirumala, he warned that his vehicle may go only on their bodies. Swamijis warned that if a law and order problem arises during Jagan’s visit in Tirumala, Jagan will have to take responsibility.
On the other hand, in view of Jagan’s Tirumala visit Tirupati SP Subbarayudu promulgated prohibitory orders under Police Act, which will be in force till October 25. Under this order, prior permission is mandatory for any rallies, meetings and protests.
Meanwhile, anxiety arises whether Jaganmohan Reddy will sign on a declaration confirming his faith on Lord Venkateswara, a precondition for non-Hindus, before proceeding for darshan on the hills? Last week Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu accused him of having Lord Venkateswara darshan, when he was in power, without signing such a declaration.
AP BJP chief D Purandeswari, Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav and many other leaders are now openly insisting that this time Jaganmohan Reddy should sign on such a declaration, if he wants to have darshan of Lord. Though no officer dared to pressurize him to sign such a declaration when he was Chief Minister, presently the officials also may not allow him inside the temple without signing a self- declaration.
