Ganta Srinivasa reluctant to move out of Vizag district

Tuesday, November 5, 2024

Five-time MLA and prominent TDP leader of Vishakapatnam district, Ganta Srinivasa Rao is not yet decided on the party high command’s proposal to field him opposite YSRCP Minister Botsa Satyanarayana.

Since yesterday, political circles abuzz with the news that Ganta Srinivasa will be moved out of Vizag district in the upcoming assembly elections as TDP supremo Chandra Babu Naidu wanted him to vie with Botsa Satyanarayana in Cheepurupalli constituency of Vizianagaram district.

This is to counter Botsa’s caste equations because majority of voters in Cheepurupalli belong to the Kapu community and pitching Ganta who is from the same community would alter the dynamics.

Reacting to this interesting news, Ganta Srinivasa Rao formally stated during a press meet this morning that he is yet to take a call on this development. He expressed reluctance to relocate from his customary Visakhapatnam district where he won as MLA in different constituencies in 1999, 2004, 2009, 2014 and 2019.

Ganta Srinivasa said he is indecisive about the party’s consideration because Cheepurupalli constituency is 150 kms from his current location and also comes under the jurisdiction of Vizianagaram district.

He accused the ruling party of squandering government money to organize ‘Siddham’ meetings. He said Nara Lokesh’s Shankaravam in Vizag turned out to be a massive success.
