Senior police officers have taken action against four more police officers at Guntur’s Arundelpet Police station for giving `royal treatment’ to YCP leader and remand prisoner Borugadda Anil Kumar.
There has been widespread criticism for making Anil, who is a remand prisoner, sit on a chair and give him pillows and blankets to sleep on. In this context, the Guntur district SP has issued orders suspending head constables Sardar, Ghaus, Srinivasa Rao and constable Parameswara Rao, who are on duty at the Arundelpet police station.
After videos of Anil being treated royally at the station came out, senior officers have taken disciplinary action. The Arundalpet CI has already been sent to VR. Now, action has been taken against the four constables by firing them.
Another video has surfaced of YSRCP leader Borugadda Anil Kumar, who is in police custody, having a conversation with his nephew in the presence of the police staff. The question is whether it is negligence on the part of the police to allow an outsider to meet the accused in custody or is it a form of servitude to him?
While Anil Kumar was in custody at Arundalpet station in Guntur from October 26 to 29, his nephew entered, Anil greeted him with a smile asking ‘What are you doing, son-in-law?’ and made him sit on a chair next to him. In the video, he can be seen whispering in the boy’s ear for a while.
Anil is heard asking how IT acts are being imposed on him. The station constable is sitting on another chair next to them. After a while, Anil ordered him to bring the paper on the opposite table, and the constable brought it. He took out a paper from the station and showed it to the boy.
It remains to be seen whether it is a copy of the FIR or some other document. The SI has access to the CCTV cameras to continuously monitor whatever happens anywhere in the police station. It is noteworthy that the entire incident was recorded and he did not respond even after coming out.
