Former YSRCP minister Kakani slams coalition regime abandoning agriculture

Tuesday, December 9, 2025

Former YSRCP minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy lamented that the coalition government has been abandoning agriculture and not supporting farmers. He wondered if the agriculture department was actually working in the state? He deplored that there is no remunerative price for even a single crop and farmers are suffering due to excessive rain and drought.

He alleged that at least reviews are not being conducted in areas where crops have been damaged and the coalition leaders are in the Chandrababu Naidu government only to loot. Kakani recalled that they wrote news in their own newspapers that urea would be sidelined. Now, former minister Kakani expressed concern that if the booster dose of urea is not provided to the farmers, the crops may also be completely damaged.

The former agriculture minister alleged that more than Rs 200 per bag is being charged in the black market. During the previous YSRCP government, he recalled that they had supported the farmers through the RBK Law. But now, he said that farmers are unable to do anything about urea and have to resort to traders. He alleged that the entire urea was tied up with private individuals by taking bribes and drowning the farmers.

Today, Kakani said that farmers have to go to great lengths to get urea when it is not available, when it is not raining. He recalled that the coalition leaders once say that fertilizers are abundant and then admit that there is a shortage. He demanded them to answer which wholesaler actually gave the fertilizers? What steps have you taken if the traders are robbing the farmers?

However, Kakani Govardhan Reddy accused CM Chandrababu of copying the schemes of his neighbors and not giving new schemes. He accused that CM Chandrababu is telling blatant lies by saying that Super Six is a  superhit. He asserted that the former Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy had worked for the farmers in a planned manner during the previous government.

“We set up a price stabilization fund for the farmers without weighing the profits and losses. CM Chandrababu, who came to power after telling many lies to the farmers, spread false propaganda against us. He created a setting by dressing up as a farmer and talking”, he added. Kakani criticized Chandrababu Naidu for not caring about farmers except for his own benefit.
