Former Minister Avanti Srinivas Resigns YCP, Likely To join Jana Sena

Thursday, January 16, 2025

After its crushing defeat in the general elections, several leaders are leaving the YSRCP and joining one among three coalition partners in the AP government.  Former ministers, former MLAs,  and senior leaders have resigned from the party. Also, three Rajya Sabha members. Four MLCs have resigned from the party and their posts.

In the districts, ZP chairman, corporation chairman, municipal chairman, MPPs, ZPTCs, and MPTCs are joining coalition parties. Even though party chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy is conducting district-wise reviews and making changes and additions, the migration is not stopping.

Now, another former minister Avanti Srinivas has resigned from the YSRCP.  He wrote in his resignation letter that he was leaving the YSRCP due to personal reasons. He wrote in the letter that he was resigning from the party’s primary membership and the post of Bhimili constituency in-charge.

Moreover, he question’s party leadership’s tirade against the functioning of the coalition government and felt that it should be given at least a year’s time. He advised that it is not right to rush in the name of protests beforehand. He mentioned in this regard, that he entered politics in 2009 with the blessings of Chiranjeevi. He said that he won as Bhimili MLA with the blessings of Chiranjeevi and Nagababu.

He alleged that the YCP party leadership has been taking  decisions unilaterally without consulting everyone in Tadepalli. Avanti Srinivas has been keeping away from the party activities after its disastrous defeat in recent polls. Now, it remains to be seen whether Avanti will join the TDP or support the Jana Sena Party?

However, it seems that Avanti is leaning towards the Jana Sena Party. He, however, says that he will stay away from politics. Avanti Srinivas joined the Praja Rajyam Party in 2009 and contested from Bhimili and won. Later, after Chiranjeevi merged his party with the Congress, he continued in that party.

With the changed circumstances after the state bifurcation, he  joined the TDP before the 2014 elections. He contested as an MP from Anakapalle in the 2014 elections and won. However, Avanti Srinivas, who unexpectedly resigned from the TDP before the 2109 elections, joined the YSRCP and contested from Bhimili and won against TDP candidate Sabbam Hari.
