The investigation into the TDP central office attack case, two and half years ago during the YCP regime, is gaining momentum with the change of regime in the state. In the first instant, Mangalagiri court remands five accused in the case.
The police have collected the details of those who participated in the attack based on the CCTV footage, more than 70 people were found to have participated in the attack. As part of this, the police arrested five YSRCP leaders in the first phase. Judge V. Ramakrishna remanded them for 14 days.
Guntur-based YSRCP corporator Acchala Venkata Reddy, former chairman of the Zilla Grandhalaya Samstha Bathula Devanand, Giri Ramu, Khaja Mohiddin and Sheikh Mastanwali were arrested by the police in this case.
A case has been registered against the accused under the sections of attempt to murder, conspiracy etc. In the remand report, the evidence collected by the police included CCTV footage, videos and pictures on social media and the details given by 8 eyewitnesses were incorporated.
On October 19, 2021, the police registered a case and investigated the attack on the TDP office based on Badrinath’s complaint. Police identified 27 more accused. As there were key leaders of YSRCP in it, a case was registered against them as well.
Several key YCP leaders said to be in panic with the progress in the investigation of the case. The accused in the case include MLC Lella Appireddy, Vijayawada East Constituency Coordinator Devineni Avinash and YCP floor leader in Vijayawada Municipal Corporation Arava Sathyam, besides others.
Police say they will arrest some more soon. As a result, some leaders have already fled the state. Those involved in the attack were identified as belonging to Gunadala, Krishnalanka and Ranigarithota areas of Vijayawada city. They all turned out to be Devineni Avinash’s followers.
It is known that several municipal corporators are among the accused. 21st Division Corporator Puppala Kumari’s son Raja, Durga Temple Governing Body Member Bachu Madhavi, Gandhi Cooperative Bank Director Jogaraju, former Deputy Mayor Challarao, etc. are prominent names.
Police are believed that they have already collected evidence to show their involvement in the case. Meanwhile, top YCP leaders are said to be worried if the accused are arrested and the names of the real masterminds are revealed, there will be trouble for them too. They are confused as to where it will wrap around their neck. It seems that there may be arrests of Avinash’s followers in one or two days.
