The Telangana government bid farewell to former CPI national general secretary and former MP Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy with official honours on Sunday. His body was brought from Care Hospital in Gachibowli to the CPI state office Makhdum Bhavan in Himayat Nagar at 10 am. It was kept there for the people and activists to pay their respects.
Leaders, activists, leaders of various parties, and prominent figures, regardless of politics, came in large numbers to pay their respects to Sudhakar Reddy. The police paid their respects to Suravaram’s body at 3 pm. Later, the last procession began to hand over Sudhakar Reddy’s body to Gandhi Medical College.
As part of this, a police march was held up to Himayat Nagar Y Junction. From there, Red Volunteers marched. The procession passed through Narayanguda Crossroads, Chikkadapalli, RTC Crossroads, and Musheerabad. Suravaram’s body was handed over to Gandhi Medical College at 4.45 pm.
On this occasion, activists sang revolutionary songs and bid farewell to Sudhakar Reddy for the last time. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said that the name of CPI veteran leader Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy will be remembered forever, and a decision will be taken after discussing it in the cabinet.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, former Chief Justice of India Justice NV Ramana, former Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, CPI All India General Secretary D. Raja, CPM General Secretary MA Baby, CPM Politburo member BV Raghavulu, Dr N Jayaprakash Narayan, BRS Executive President KT Rama Rao and others paid tribute to him on this occasion.
Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar, Vivek, Jupally Krishna Rao, Seethakka, TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud, MLC Addanki Dayakar, AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, Jana Reddy, T Harish Rao, Kodandaram and others paid their respects to Suravaram’s body. The funeral procession continued till Gandhi Medical College. The route was filled with slogans like ‘Suravaram Amar Rahe… Red Salute Sudhakar Reddy… May the unity of the Left flourish’.
