Ex-CID Chief N. Sanjay Faces Suspension Over Misuse of Funds

Saturday, January 11, 2025

N. Sanjay, a former IPS officer and Chief of the CID during the previous government’s tenure, has been suspended following serious corruption allegations. The decision to suspend Sanjay is based on claims of misuse of office and involvement in corrupt activities during his tenure.

Sanjay, who had previously served as the Director General of the Fire Department, is accused of misappropriating Rs. 1 crore. The Vigilance Department’s investigation confirmed that significant payments were made without corresponding work being completed. The probe revealed Sanjay’s collaboration with Soutrik Technologies & Infra Private Limited in these fraudulent activities.

Following a report from the Vigilance and Enforcement Department, the state government imposed the suspension. Orders have also been issued to ensure Sanjay remains at the headquarters. Further allegations suggest that he misused programs designed to raise awareness of the SC/ST Atrocities Act for personal gain. This led to his suspension amid ongoing investigations.
