EC’s shock to BRS and KCR regarding the party’s National status

Friday, November 22, 2024

The Election Commission of India has shaken a lot of regional political parties in India including the Telangana ruling party BRS. The EC has stripped down the national status of BRS in its revised audits.

It is a known fact that BRS is trying its best to project itself as a National party to clash with the BJP in the upcoming elections. It also tried to expand its wings in the neighboring state of Andhra Pradesh and is on the way to having a huge public event as well. Amidst such situations, the ECI’s fresh results declared that BRS is no longer a National Party and it failed to satisfy the conditions of a national party. According to para-6 of the EC’s rules, BRS didn’t field its candidates in the 2019’s elections in Andhra Pradesh as MLAs or MPs thereby they failed the national party status. This is a huge blow for the KCR’s camp which has national aspirations.

Other regional parties like Mamatha Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress (TMC), Sharad Pawar’s Nationalistic Congress Party (NCP), Communist Party of India, and others are on this list of losing the national party status. The ECI only promoted the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as the National party among the Indian political parties as of now. Needless to say, Mamatha fumed over the ECI and we also expect KCR to respond quite sharply in the upcoming days regarding the same.
