Sunday, December 22, 2024

In a move that push the YS Jaganmohan Reddy government into corner against allegations of some IPS officers are working as like `YSRCP activists’ in the government during election period, the  Election Commission of Indi (ECI) has ordered the state government to answer the allegations leveled by the BJP state president D. Purandeshwari against 22 IPS officers for obstructing the conduct of free elections in the state.

The ECI has reportedly issued instructions to Chief Secretary KS Jawahar Reddy to give an immediate explanation on the letter she wrote to the EC on the 1st of this month. In her letter, Purandeshwari has narrated the instances of abuse of power by these IPS officers to harm the opposition in favor of the ruling YCP.

She alleged in her letter that although there are half a dozen eligible seniors for the post of DGP in the state, the chief minister has chosen a junior officer from his community and also from his home district, KV Rajendranath Reddy, has been retained as DGP for more than two years because, he is a YCP sympathizer.

She also provided some examples of his partial attitude during discharge of his duties. For example, she said that very recently while providing heavy security for the Chief Minister’s visit, a minimum security was provided during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Chilukaluripet. She explained that more police were deployed for the CM’s visit to Kadapa than the Prime Minister’s House.

She also recalled how CBI officials were prevented from arresting Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy, who was accused in the murder case of former minister Vivekananda Reddy, last year in Kurnool.

The former union minister Purandeswari deplored how police acting partially stating that if the ruling party attacks and commits atrocities against the opposition parties, who are fighting on behalf of the people, there is a situation in the state where cases are filed only against the aggrieved opposition parties. She demanded that the DGP, who is acting like a YCP activist, be changed immediately.

Meanwhile, Purandeshwari also complained to ECI against Chief Secretary Jawahar Reddy along with 22 IPS officers. He said that he also belongs to the CM’s district.. He is from the same social group and till the Election Commission stepped in, no action was taken against the fake votes and illegal removal of votes in the state.

Also referring to the partial attitude of officers like TTD Executive Officer Dharma Reddy, Vigilance DG Kolli Raghurami Reddy,State Beverages Corporation MD Vasudeva Reddy and others, she claimed that these officials are plotting to make a mockery of democracy and manipulate the results of the elections.
