Chief Minister Revanth Reddy while taking oath as Chief Minister in December, 2023 said that he would expand the cabinet within two months. Already the deadline line over a year ago and has been indicating several deadlines over expansion of the cabinet. However, somehow the Chief Minister is failing to expand his cabinet.
Though he has been visiting a number of times to get approval of the party high-command to expand his cabinet and initial discussions were also over, he is unable to get approval. This has been creating dissent among Congress MLAs, who have been expecting cabinet berths.
Particularly, key districts like Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy, the nerve center for Telangana politics are not having representation in the cabinet. Ibrahimpatnam MLA Malreddy Rangareddy has expressed his dissatisfaction openly over the lack of priority given to Ranga Reddy district in the cabinet. He said that Ranga Reddy district is the most populous district in the state and injustice should not be done to such a district.
He recalled that in the past, the joint Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad districts used to have at least six ministers in the state cabinet. But now, he deplored that not a single minister is there from these key districts. Ranga Reddy said that he is ready to quit politics if social integration is getting in the way to accommodate him in the cabinet.
He said that he is ready to resign for the development of the district and make a candidate from a different social group win. He suggested that leaders from the greater Hyderabad area should be given ministerial posts, at least keeping in mind the upcoming GHMC elections.
He deplored that those who have been working hard for the party from the beginning are not being given proper priority in the government. He commented that it is not right to give positions to those who joined the party the other day and make them look good.
He suggested that new arrivals in the party should be given respect, but not given positions immediately. For the party, he warned that if those who have worked since the beginning are left aside, the wrong signals will be sent to the people. He suggested that positions should be given to those who have worked hard for at least 10 years. He commented that he cannot say more because the party line should not be crossed.
