Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has officially resigned from his position. The resignation was submitted to Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena by Atishi, the incoming Chief Minister, along with other cabinet ministers.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced Atishi as the new leader of the legislative assembly. She is scheduled to take the oath of office as Delhi’s new Chief Minister within the next week.
AAP leader and Delhi Minister Gopal Rai disclosed that Kejriwal opted to resign after his release from jail, having previously refrained from doing so while incarcerated. Rai noted that Kejriwal sought to demonstrate his commitment to the people of Delhi before stepping down. He also revealed that Kejriwal plans to seek public validation through the electoral process and will remain in office until he is re-elected as Chief Minister by the people.
