Dalits Fire over Declaration of competitive Exams Results without SC classification

Friday, December 5, 2025

Dalit organizations and candidates are angry over the Congress government’s decision to declare the results of competitive examinations without implementing the SC classification. They are under fire over the release of the schedule for the announcement of Group-1,2,3 results. They are demanding that the results be declared only after the classification is implemented.

Following the Supreme Court verdict, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has formed a cabinet subcommittee headed by Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy to implement the classification of SC reservations. A one-member judicial commission headed by former High Court judge Justice Shamim Akhtar has been formed.

The report was submitted and approved by the cabinet. In 2011, the joint state government classified reservations based on the population census. It confirmed the SC population of 52,17,684 people. It divided 59 scheduled castes into 3 groups.

It recommended that the 15% reservation implemented for SCs be reduced to 1% for 15 SCs in Group A, 9% for 18 SCs in Group B, and 5% for 26 SCs in Group C. The Congress government introduced this report in the Assembly and passed it.

The report itself is already being widely criticized. Dalit organizations are expressing concern as the government is preparing to announce the results of several competitive examinations conducted last year without implementing the classification.

The Supreme Court ruled on August 1 last year that the states have the right to classify SC reservations. Immediately in the Assembly CM Revanth announced that notifications would be issued and posts would be filled only after the implementation of the classification.

But he went back on his word. Along with conducting the DSC exams, the results were released and appointment letters were given. Now that the Assembly has also approved the classification report, the path to implementation has also been paved.

However, preparations are being made to fill the posts without delaying the implementation of the classification. The schedule released states that the results of Group-1 will be announced on the 10th, Group 2 GRL on the 11th, Group 3 GRL on the 14th, the final list of Hostel Welfare Officer candidates on the 17th, and the GRL for Extension Officer posts on the 19th.
