CPI state secretary Kunamneni Demands To scrap Kaleshwaram project

Friday, December 5, 2025

CPI State Secretary and Kothagudem MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao demanded that the Kaleshwaram project built by the previous government be scrapped, saying that it was a burden on the people. He suggested that thousands of crores of rupees of public money should not be spent on Kaleshwaram anymore for its maintenance.

He demanded that the project be built near Tummidi Hatti at a height of 140 meters. He said that if the project were built there, he said all the districts would get irrigation water. He deplored that not a single drop of water was given after Kaleshwaram was built, and today the crops get only water from Yellampally.

He said that KCR, who said that everything for Kaleshwaram was his, is now saying that he has nothing to do with it. He said that the responsibility for the design of the Kaleshwaram project lies with the engineers and that today they are avoiding it, which is unfair.

He recalled that Harish Rao said that Maharashtra did not give permission for the project to be built at Tummidi Hetti, that is why it was shifted to Kaleshwaram, and asked whether he would build a project that would drown the people?

Meanwhile, Sambasiva Rao lamented that the central government is violating human rights and dreams of eliminating communists under the name of Operation Kagar. He accused that the center is scared of seeing the bodies of communists and that it is cruel not to give the body of Nambala Kesava Rao, who died in police firing. He said that if the Maoists do wrong, cases should be filed according to the law. But, he lamented that the Maoists will be eliminated by March 2026 is evidence of a feudal, goonda and fascist regime.

The CPI leader said that even though the Maoists have declared that they will surrender and are ready for talks, their goal is to kill, but if one Nambala Kesava Rao is killed, crores of people in the country will respond, which is proof of the humanism of the communists.

He criticized the central government for misleading the people by making absurd comments that India has surpassed Japan and occupied the fourth position economically, and for artificially trying to portray it as a country without poor people. He questioned why inequalities have not gone away even though the country has developed economically and why people are languishing in poverty?
