Criticism is rife in Telugu states as former Chief Ministers are not attending Assembly sessions. People are alleging that the former Chief Ministers of both the states are not showing their faces in the assembly since they lost the assembly elections. Since they won as MLAs, they have not spoken on behalf of public issues.
However, in AP, the former Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has been sitting in fear, saying that he will only step into the assembly if he is given opposition status. The coalition government has already made it clear many times that Jagan will not be given opposition status as per the rules and regulations of opposition status in the constitution.
Moreover, former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in Telangana is spending time saying that he is unable to come to the assembly meetings due to his health problems. In this context, CPI national secretary Dr K. Narayana demanded that both the former Chief Minister, who contested the elections and won as MLAs, should come to the assembly.
He said that KCR and Jagan’s not going to the assembly was a sign of not sitting separately after getting married. He was furious that not coming to the assembly means cheating the people who voted for you. He criticized that there are some calculations to be given opposition status, but Jagan is talking without knowing them.
He lamented the attitude of these two leaders to attend assembly only if they are in power. He recalled that they have been receiving several facilities as MLAs, like free medical assistance, salaries and DAs without going to the assembly, after taking oath as legislators.
Meanwhile,Dr. Narayana said that he welcomes the Maoists’ decision to lay down their arms and observe a temporary ceasefire in armed struggle. He said that it is ironic that this decision taken for the sake of peace talks is being called a victory by the central government.
He strongly condemns the comments of PM Modi and Amit Shah, who compare the Naxalites, who have clear positions in the social, economic and political fields, with terrorists. He deplored that it is outraged that the central government was playing dirty politics to threaten tribals and hand over natural resources to corporate powers.
