CPI Flays AP Dealt with Injustice In Irrigation projects By Center

Wednesday, December 18, 2024

CPI State Secretary Ramakrishna expressed concern that the Center is doing injustice to the AP in terms of irrigation projects. While Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is talking about river interlinking on one hand, on the other hand, he accused the central government of trying to reduce the height of the Polavaram project.

He cautioned that reducing the height will harm the benefits of the project, but that will save the center Rs. 25,000 crores. Ramakrishna was angry that the capacity of the Left Canal is being reduced and the central government is trying to save funds. He wondered that CM Chandrababu is not giving clarity on this issue and demanded that the center clarify on it.

Ramakrishna alleged that the center is trying to reduce the allocations made by the Krishna Tribunal in Krishna waters to the state. He asked CM Chandrababu Naidu to convene an all-party meeting to discuss this issue. He suggested that a transparent discussion should be held. He demanded that a white paper be released on projects and water allocations.

He said that on November 18, he would submit a petition to CM Chandrababu to give 2 cents of house plots in cities and 3 cents in villages to the poor people. He said that this program would be carried out for a week.

The CPI leader recalled that Chandrababu Naidu had promised during elections that he would not burden the people in electricity charge. But now, he lamented that the AP government is ready to put an additional burden of Rs 18,000 crore in the name of electricity surcharges on consumers.

He announced that Left parties would hold a huge protest in Vijayawada on the 19th of this month protesting against the imposition of additional burden on power consumers.  He warned that if the government does not withdraw the True Up charge burden, which has never been seen in the history of AP, they would intensify the agitation programs.

He criticized that the state government is unable to control the rising prices. He said that the Civil Supplies Minister has failed to reduce the prices of essential commodities. He said that there is no one who will take Chief Minister Chandrababu’s words seriously. CPI Ramakrishna warned that he will launch movements on prices from December.
