Senior leaders in BRS one after another came out blaming party chief KCR’s inaccessibility to them and domination of a coterie around him, besides renomination sitting MLAs, who were unpopular among people led to the party’s humiliating defeat in recent assembly polls.
Legislative Council Chairman and former MP Gutta Sukhender Reddy, who is known as a `elder and stable’ leader in combined Nalgonda district, has made sensational comments alleging that BRS was badly defeated in the assembly elections due to KCR’s coterie.
He also pointed out that the behavior of the then ministers, MLA-centered politics and arrogant behavior from the Chief Minister led to the party losing people’s faith. He pointed out that he himself was unable to get an appointment with KCR for over six months before the Assembly polls.
He deplored that KCR has practically ignored issues related to combined districts of Nalgonda, Khammam, Warangal and Mahbubnagar, leaving the ground to the local leaders. That was the reason for the party’s near-complete defeat in these districts, he said.
He also said renominating unpopular MLAs once again as candidate also contributed to a great extent for the defeat. Leaders who cannot show their face to people were kept against in the elections as party candidates, he added.
He reminded that people were alienated from the party after being in power for ten years, MLAs acting like dictators and talking arrogantly. He made it clear that the leaders are leaving BRS due to absence of trust and confidence in the leadership.
He deplored that KCR become dependent on his coterie and handing over tasks to leaders like Jagdish Reddy, who failed to take all leaders in districts along with them. Moreover, he alleged that KCR did not care about South Telangana and pending projects like SLBC and Brahmanavellam.
Stating that the defeat in assembly elections was due to its own leaders, he deplored that the party is not attempting for introspection even now. Referring to BRS leaders demand to disqualify MLCs, who have switched parties, Reddy said that he will take legal advice and review each issue judiciously.
