Congress aims to wipe out BRS from Loksabha

Monday, December 23, 2024

Indian National Congress romped home with a decisive majority and formed the third government in Telangana after its stunning coup against the Bharatiya Rastra Samithi in the recent assembly elections. Revanth Reddy revived the party’s hopes and turned the tables with his style of aggressive politicking. He played an instrumental role with his strategies in securing the party’s victory for the first time after the formation of the state.

Now, the election fever is back in the state ahead of the Loksabha polls. All three parties are trying their best to win a majority of the seats. Revanth Reddy and the Congress party want to improve the Loksabha tally drastically this time. They were confined to just three seats out of 17 in 2019. KCR’s party won 9 seats and the BJP sprung a big surprise by claiming 4 seats. MIM won the remaining one seat.

As the Congress party came to power just three months, it is going to be a difficult task for the BRS to retain even half of its sitting seats. Revanth Reddy and senior Congress leaders are going all-out in their approach to wipe out BRS from Loksabha. They want to make sure that BRS doesn’t win even one seat in these elections.

Revanth Reddy’s two and half month tenure after assuming charge as Chief Minister is good so far if not unanimously impressive because of his shrewd decisions and sensible tactics. Immediately after coming to power, he implemented the free bus service for women. He also promised to fulfill the remaining guarantees in the election manifesto within 100 days since he took oath as CM. He ensured that the job calendar was released on time without any delay.

Besides launching various schemes, Revanth Reddy’s government also exposed the irregularities in the Kaleshwaram project. Moreover, several BRS MLAs are ready to shift loyalties to Congress in the coming days. Many prominent leaders from different districts already joined the Congress party in the presence of Revanth Reddy.

Meanwhile, the BRS party seems to be struggling to regain the lost glory after a poor show in the assembly elections. They are without their chief KCR until recently as a hip injury kept him away from party activities. He didn’t even attend the assembly sessions.

On the other side, the BJP is also looking to make inroads in Telangana. They want to increase the count from the last election. However, it will face a stiff competition from the Congress. If both these parties gain a better swing than the 2019 election results, BRS will find it difficult to survive.
