Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is set to travel to Kerala on Tuesday evening. On Wednesday, he will attend Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi’s nomination event. Priyanka Gandhi is filing her nomination from Wayanad for the upcoming election.
The Wayanad by-election has become a prestigious contest for the Congress party. As Priyanka Gandhi, a member of the Gandhi family, is contesting for the first time, the party leadership is paying special attention to the election. The entire Congress is focused on ensuring Priyanka Gandhi’s victory. In the previous Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi contested and won from both Wayanad and Rae Bareli. While he continued as MP from Rae Bareli, he resigned from the Wayanad seat, leading to the necessity of a by-election.
Wayanad, after Rae Bareli and Amethi, has embraced the Gandhi family. In 2019, though Rahul Gandhi lost in Amethi, he secured a significant victory in Wayanad. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as well, the people of Wayanad re-elected Rahul Gandhi with a huge majority.
