CM Revanth Reddy promise Rs 1 crore compensation To Families of Those who Died In Pashamylaram Explosion

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has promised to provide Rs.1 crore compensation to the families of those who died in the the deadly chemical explosion at Sangareddy’s Sigachi Industries’ pharma plant in Pashamylaram.  He has directed officials to talk to the company management and provide compensation. He assured that free medical treatment will be provided to the injured and action will be taken against those responsible.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, accompanied by ministers Sridhar Babu, Damodara Raja Narasimha, G Vivek and P Srinivasa Reddy visited the factory blast site and reviewed the situation with senior officials.  Dressing down the management of Sigachi Industries Ltd , he  sought a comprehensive report on the incident, including details of past similar occurrences and preventive measures taken.

State IT minister Sridhar Babu Sridhar Badu said the company has to act on a humanitarian basis. “Sorry to say that your top management is not here even after 24 hours. If he is so preoccupied, why does he have to run a factory? Such a major incident, fatal incident has taken place. And our government will take it very seriously,” he added.

Revanth Reddy said that the government will stand by the families of the deceased and injured. He clearly stated that the state government will take the responsibility of educating the children of the victims. He said that 36 people lost their lives in the accident. 17 people are missing. He said that some more are still missing. The CM said that there were 143 workers at the time of the accident. 53 people have been found after the accident.

He revealed that it is yet to be known whether some are still under the rubble. or have fled somewhere in fear. He revealed that a clear system will be introduced to prevent fire accidents and also suggested that industries should take precautions to prevent such incidents. He ordered officials to conduct periodical inspections in industries.

Revanth Reddy said that the bodies will be transported to their homes at the government’s expense. He said that the reasons for this accident cannot be said right now and an investigation into the accident is being conducted by an expert committee. He announced an immediate assistance of Rs. 1 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs. 50,000 to the injured.

The Chief Minister said that it is believed that some workers are trapped under the rubble and some more left after the accident. He said that Rs. 10 lakh compensation will be paid to those who are seriously injured and cannot work, and Rs. 5 lakh compensation to those who are able to work after treatment. He clarified that the company and the government will bear the treatment costs of the injured.
