Probably for the first time the bitter rivals of Telangana politics, both Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and BRS Working President KT Rama Rao, are seen together on a stage in Chennai on Saturday. They are sharing a dais at the Joint Action Committee (JAC) meeting on delimitation being, convened by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin.
The Chief Ministers of the southern states and leaders of the opposition parties met under the chairmanship of Stalin. From Telangana besides Revanth and KTR, TPCC chief Mahesh Goud, former ministers Niranjan Reddy and Jagadish Reddy attended the meeting.
Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan and Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar also participated. All of them started discussions on the losses to the south due to the delimitation of constituencies. All the parties are also deliberating on the steps to be taken against the Center.
Meanwhile, the appearance of CM Revanth Reddy and KTR on the same platform has become a topic of discussion in Telangana politics. Congress and BRS act as sworn enemies every day and every minute in the state. Revanth Reddy keeps criticizing the policies of the previous BRS government and KCR’s behavior.
KTR keeps criticizing the policies and schemes of the current Congress government. While the ruling party is accusing KCR of embezzling Rs. 1 lakh crores in the Kaleshwaram project, BRS leaders are accusing him of taking up the project to send packages to Delhi in the name of Musi.
While Revanth Reddy says that the Congress government has done good to the farmers. While it has waived off loans, KTR is angry that more than half of the beneficiaries are not getting the schemes provided by the Congress.
While the ruling party leaders are saying that KTR was involved in corruption in the Formula E car race case, the opposition leaders are accusing Revanth Reddy of being caught red-handed in the vote-for-cash case. In such circumstances, the fact that Revanth Reddy and KTR have come to a consensus on the same issue has now led to a huge debate.
There is a lot of excitement about both of them attending the meeting of the southern states. However, no matter what the political situation in Telangana is, political analysts say that if they know that the state is in danger, they will all join hands as one.
Meanwhile, if the Congress and BRS also become partners in the JAC proposed by Stalin today, both parties will have to become partners in the struggle on this issue. If that happens, the ruling and opposition parties, Congress and BRS, who are acting like sworn enemies in the state, will have to fight together for the benefit of the Telangana state on the issue of re-division of Lok Sabha constituencies.
Interestingly, BJP alleging both Congress and BRS are `secret partners’ against Narendra Modi’s government at the center. But the Congress accusing that BRS is B-team of the BJP and BRS lamenting that Congress and BJP colluded to wipe out BRS from the state.
