Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed deep sorrow over the devastating impact of the recent floods, stating that the heavy rains have brought significant tragedy to the lives of the affected people. He assured that the government is committed to supporting the flood victims and helping them overcome their hardships. The Chief Minister, accompanied by several ministers, toured the flood-affected areas in Khammam today.
During his visit, CM Revanth Reddy announced a series of financial relief measures. He declared immediate assistance of ₹10,000 for each affected family and ₹5 lakhs in compensation for the families of those who lost their lives in the floods. Additionally, he announced ₹50,000 for those who lost cattle and ₹5,000 for those who lost sheep and goats. He also pledged that new houses would be constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for those who lost their homes.
The Chief Minister assured that original documents lost in the floods would be reissued and directed revenue officials to conduct door-to-door assessments of the flood damage. Compensation will be provided based on these damage assessment reports.
CM Revanth Reddy emphasized the government’s dedication to the relief efforts, noting that ministers and officials are working tirelessly for the welfare of the flood victims. He highlighted that Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has been working round the clock without sleep. CM Revanth Reddy also remarked that such heavy rainfall has not been seen in the last seventy years, as per the accounts of local elders. He expressed concern over the damage to hundreds of families residing in the Rajiv Gruhakalpa housing scheme.
The Chief Minister instructed the district administration to ensure that essential supplies, including rice, salt, pulses, and clean drinking water, are provided to every affected family. He concluded by encouraging the flood-affected residents of Khammam to remain resilient during this challenging time.
