CM Revanth Announces Plan to Rename BJP Office Area as ‘Gaddar Colony’

Tuesday, March 4, 2025
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has declared his intention to rename the area housing the BJP office in Hyderabad as “Gaddar Colony” in honor of the revolutionary singer Gaddar. Speaking at a Gaddar Jayanti event at Ravindra Bharathi, CM Reddy warned the BJP and Union Minister Bandi Sanjay that if they continued to disrespect Gaddar’s legacy, he would take action to rename the area. He emphasized, “If your party continues to belittle Gaddar, I will ensure your office area is renamed Gaddar Gully.”
Reddy also pointed out that while the BJP may feel it has awards, it should remember that the BJP office is situated in Gaddar’s state, and thus it was fitting to honor the revolutionary by renaming the area.
In a pointed remark, Reddy recalled that under the previous government, Gaddar was relegated to the periphery, but now his successor holds power. He further commented that the BJP, which criticized Gaddar, would face a similar fate.
Revanth Reddy Reflects on Gaddar’s Legacy and Advocates for Recognition
CM Reddy shared personal anecdotes, revealing how he sought advice from Gaddar during times of political isolation. He praised Gaddar for living by his principles until his final breath. Reddy also urged the Central government to award Padma honors to Gaddar and other prominent figures such as Gorrati Venkanna, Chukka Ramayya, Jayadeer Turmalarao, and Andeshri.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the government’s recognition of five individuals from Andhra Pradesh, Reddy questioned why the figures he proposed from Telangana were overlooked. He conveyed his frustration with the central government’s decision and lamented the absence of Gaddar among the awardees.
