Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has reiterated his commitment to establishing ‘Rama Rajyam’ in the state, a model of governance inspired by the ideals of Lord Rama. Participating in the celestial wedding ceremony of Sri Kodandarama Swamy at Ontimitta along with his spouse, the Chief Minister presented silk robes and pearl garlands to the deities on behalf of the state government.
Addressing devotees, Chandrababu described the divine couple’s marriage as an ideal partnership and stressed that governance should be reminiscent of Lord Rama’s rule. “In the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh, we used to celebrate the Kalyanam at Bhadrachalam. Post-bifurcation, we issued government orders to host the event with equal grandeur at Vontimitta. Since then, continuous efforts have been made to develop the temple,” he said.
Highlighting the temple’s integration into the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), the Chief Minister said protecting and promoting temples is a collective responsibility. He announced further development under temple tourism initiatives, including the beautification of the adjacent tank and enhanced infrastructure to accommodate multi-day visits by pilgrims.
“Temples are the cornerstone of our cultural heritage. Without them, the traditional family system would not exist. India possesses an unparalleled spiritual legacy that must be preserved and passed on to future generations,” he added.
Chandrababu also expressed optimism about India’s future, stating, “Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India is poised to become the world’s number one or two economy by 2047. My goal is to shape Andhra Pradesh into a ‘Swarna Andhra Pradesh,’ where poverty is eradicated and economic disparities are reduced. With the cooperation of the people, we will build a prosperous and equitable state,” he said.
