Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has directed the officials to prepare a clear action plan for the development of the tourism sector in the state aiming at 20 percent growth rate. Conducting a review on the Tourism department with minister for tourism Kandula Duregesh and officials, he discussed the issue of establishing tourism circuits in the state by coordinating central schemes.
The CM reviewed the issue of construction of hotel rooms in various areas and undertaking projects on PPP basis. He suggested that steps should be taken towards providing employment to the youth. He said that international projects should be studied and implemented in the state and steps should be taken for the development of home stays with the participation of NRIs.
Chandrababu said that seaplane and heli tourism projects should be started soon. He said that an action plan should be prepared for the development of Srisailam as a mega project. The CM said that tourism hubs will be set up in Tirupati, Visakhapatnam, Amaravati, Srisailam and Rajahmundry.
The CM made it clear that beach and cruise tourism should be developed to attract domestic and foreign tourists. He revealed that it has been decided to develop tourism islands in the state. He said that investors are being invited to set up hotels in tourist areas.
He said that tent cities are being set up in Araku, Lambasingi, Gandikota, Suryalanka, Rajahmundry and Bridge Lanka on the lines of Rann of Kutch. He suggested that cafes should be set up to popularize Araku coffee along with handloom handicrafts. Chandrababu directed the construction of auditoriums in the Shilparamam in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Tirupati.
It was decided to set up trekking on the hills in the surrounding areas of Undavalli, Sitanagaram and Tadepalli near the capital. It has been decided to develop Tirupati as a Chain of Tanks and Vizag as a City of Beaches.
The CM has instructed the officials to complete the Akhanda Godavari and Gandikota projects undertaken with central assistance at the earliest. Chandrababu Naidu released the book of the recently organized Flamingo Festival.
