The Andhra Pradesh government has given the green signal for the construction of a new iconic cable bridge in the capital city of Amaravati. The project, which will be undertaken at a cost of Rs 2,500 crore, will connect Amaravati N13 road with national highway NH-65. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has already finalized the design of this bridge.
Recently, four models were put up for public voting on the CRDA website. More than all, about 14,000 votes were cast for the second option. Chandrababu Naidu is also inclined towards this. It seems that the DPR has also been prepared accordingly. It has been designed to reflect the Kuchipudi dance posture in the Swastika hand pose.
A big emphasis has been placed on locality in the red and white twin pattern. Nippon Koi Limited has prepared the DPR. The bridge will be built in three rows in view of future needs. There will also be footpaths on both sides. A 5.22 km long cable bridge will be constructed from Rayapudi in Amaravati to Moolapadu in NTR district across the Krishna River on NH 65.
In this regard, in 2019, the then TDP government laid the foundation stone for the iconic bridge from N10 to Pavitra Sangam at a cost of Rs 1,387 crore. Later, after the YSRCP government came to power, the project was shelved. The location changed with the arrival of the coalition government. This decision was taken with the arrival of the Western Bypass.
To reach Amravati from NH 65, one has to travel a distance of about 40 km. One has to travel via Mulapadu, Ibrahimpatnam, Gollapudi, Kanakadurga Bridge, and Prakasam Barrage. This route is crowded with vehicles during rush hours.
The arrival of the iconic bridge will eliminate traffic problems. This will reduce pressure on Vijayawada city. If you travel 5 kilometers from Moolapadu, you can enter Amaravati. This will reduce the distance by 35 kilometers and save an hour and a half.
The bridge will end at the Vijayawada-Hyderabad National Highway. A trumpet interchange will be built here to easily change direction towards Vijayawada and Hyderabad. This bridge will be developed as a new entry point to go from Hyderabad to Amaravati.
