CM Chandrababu Assures water will Be Released Into Polavaram only After completion of Rehabilitation

Monday, March 31, 2025

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has made it clear that the rehabilitation of the displaced people will be completed by 2027 and that water will be released to the Polavaram project only after the rehabilitation is done. He visited the Polavaram project on Thursday and first met with the displaced people.

He assured that there will be no scope for middlemen and fraudsters and care will be taken to ensure compensation or any other benefits to directly reach them. He said that our NDA government has come and we should complete the project on time.

While YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s government ignored displaced people, CM Chandrababu said that it is the coalition government that has deposited Rs 829 crore directly into the accounts of the displaced people. He said that a plan has been formulated to increase the income and living standards of the displaced people.

The CM said that Polavaram is the lifeline of the state and he will take the responsibility to do you justice. He said that the package money will come directly to the accounts of the displaced people without a single paisa of corruption anywhere.

CM Chandrababu said that very little compensation was initially given to the farmers who gave land for the project. He criticized that there was no one to care about displaced people during the previous government. He reminded that for the early completion of the project it was he who demanded the Narendra Modi government to include seven submerged villages into AP.

The CM said that Jaganmohan Reddy promised to provide Rs 10 lakh compensation for the acre, but in reality not a single rupee was given by him. He said that the then CM Jagan did not care even when the floods came. He criticized Jagan for putting aside the project that should have been completed a long time ago.

Chandrababu felt that if the TDP had come to power in 2019, Polavaram would have been completed much earlier, and the cost of Polavaram has increased drastically due to the delay. The CM made it clear that he would try to provide compensation as soon as possible.

Referring that some victims are complaining that some of their names were removed, the Chief Minister promised them he would investigate their claims and initiate appropriate action.
