Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu suggested that crops that are in high demand nationally and internationally should be studied and cultivated only those crops that are suitable for exports. On this occasion, he advised the officials to estimate the demand for crops in advance and encourage farmers to cultivate accordingly.
Chandrababu Naidu said that all eligible farmers should take advantage of the Purvodaya scheme launched by the Center. He discussed with the officials the development and measures to be taken in the horticultural crops, micro irrigation, fisheries, aqua and food processing sectors at his Undavalli residence. He gave directions on the plans to be made in the agricultural allied sectors as part of the Purvodaya Mission.
“The market scope should be expanded by adding value to the products. Farmers’ income can be doubled through intercropping along with the main crops. Farmers should be educated about the crops that can be grown in our climate,” he said. He also explained that plans should be made to connect every farmer to industries.
Chandrababu told the officials that there would be no crop damage if this is done and Farmer Producer Organizations should be encouraged to this extent. He said that the Center is financially supporting them and suggested organizing a workshop to bring together horticultural farmers and food processing industries.
Chandrababu said that certification and traceability should be ensured for all types of products. He directed to prepare a plan for the establishment of an aquaculture university in the state. He explained that steps should be taken to double the cultivation of aqua products.
He said that the staff at the centers should be equipped to analyze which crops are within the scope of the Rythu Seva Kendras and create awareness among the farmers. He asked to take up the construction of collective sheds for cattle on a cluster basis.
However, he said that the management of these should be entrusted to the Dwcra associations. He said that milk production units, chilling units, feed banks and biogas plants should be set up in addition to these. He made it clear that food processing zones should be established in every constituency. Minister Atchannaidu, senior officials of the respective departments and others participated in this review.
