Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu said that 1983 was monumental in the country’s politics. He participated in the release of a book `Sajeeva Chairtra’ (Live History), along with former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, Tripura Governor Nallu Indrasena Reddy, AP Assembly Speaker Ayyannapatrudu, Minister Kollu Ravindra and others, on the late former Chief Minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao.
The Chief Minister said that the people will know the facts that took place in 1984 through the book ‘Sajeeva Charitra’, when undemocratically NT Rama Rao’s government was sacked and ultimately it was restored after a mong owing to massive revolt by people and also MLAs.
He said that the results of the 1983 Andhra Pradesh elections are a lesson for the Congress rule for three and a half decades. The book covers the main events of the movement that took place after the dismissal of the NTR government in 1984 and the circumstances that led to it. The book has been compiled by NTR Literature Committee Chairman TD Janardhan and writer Vikram Pula.
This book was prepared with the views of Chandrababu Naidu, Venkaiah Naidu, Ayyannapatrudu and Indrasena Reddy, who played a key role in the movement to protect democracy. Chandrababu recalled that 161 MLAs went to Ramakrishna Studio at that time and set up a camp. He said that 26 governments were overthrown in 37 years of Congress regime.
He made it clear that one government fell in 18 months and only NT Rama Rao won this great struggle with the restoration of his government. He recalled that the people revolted against the betrayal of democracy. He said that Indrasena Reddy played a key role in bringing the MLAs back then.
CM Chandrababu emphasized that Venkaiah Naidu had worked hard to bring all the leaders in the country on one platform. He lamented that Governor Ram Lal acted unilaterally that day. He said that all the people from Kashmir to Kanyakumari had come together.
He recalled that people came in large numbers to show solidarity that had never been seen before. He pointed out that during those days when no one in the country was ready to give accommodation for MLAs, only Karnataka Chief Minister Ramakrishna Hegde gave them shelter. CM Chandrababu said that many people returned home only after NTR became the Chief Minister.
