Former MD of AP Beverages Corporation D. Vasudeva Reddy, who has been evading the police for two months in the liquor scam, has finally been caught. The CID officials found out that Vasudeva Reddy was staying in a hotel near Yelahanka Palace of former Chief Minister and YCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in Bengaluru and called him for questioning.
The CID officials have come to the conclusion that Vasudeva Reddy is the key player in the liquor scam. Officials have made it clear that Vasudeva Reddy has a key role in buying liquor from distilleries and determining prices. Some officials say the prices are inflated for commissions. CID officials’ investigation revealed that those commissions were directly transferred to YCP leaders.
The CID officers summoned Vasudeva Reddy on all these and interrogated him. CID teams are still searching in Bengaluru. According to the details given by Vasudeva Reddy, the CID officials are examining the records. However, officials said they are not in a hurry to arrest him and are in the process of collecting full pledged evidence, so as to avoid the possibility of getting bail for him.
CID has already been instructed by the government not to take hasty action without complete evidence. Meanwhile, as there are reports that Vasudeva Reddy is in CID custody, CID officials have clarified that they have not arrested him. AP DGP also clarified that they have not arrested Vasudeva Reddy.
In the second week of June, searches were conducted till late night at the house of Vasudeva Reddy in Nanakramguda, Hyderabad. Some important files, hard disks, and other documents were seized. Officials have collected details on the new excise policy introduced by the previous government, the sale of new brands, the sale of huge amounts of liquor offline, the details of the owners of the new brands and related transactions.
Vasudeva Reddy is an Indian Railway Traffic Service Officer. As soon as Jaganmohan Reddy came to power, he was brought on deputation to the state due to his close association. He was given the responsibility of vital liquor sales.
