The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has commenced an investigation into allegations of irregularities related to Transferable Development Rights (TDR) bonds issued by the Tirupati Municipal Corporation. This probe follows a complaint from TDP leader Ravi Naidu, who alleged significant misconduct in the issuance of these TDR bonds.
In response to these allegations, the state government has ordered a CID inquiry. On Saturday, CID officials conducted searches at the Tirupati Town Planning Department, scrutinizing relevant files and documents.
The investigation is centered on the Tirupati Master Plan, under which land was acquired for the construction of 14 roads during the YSRCP administration. The authorities had issued TDR bonds worth ₹2,500 crore for this purpose. Allegations have surfaced that YSRCP leaders were involved in substantial financial misconduct in the issuance of these bonds.
