Friday, November 15, 2024

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has provided clarity regarding the ration card rule in the context of the crop loan waiver scheme. According to the Chief Minister, the loan waiver of up to Rs 2 lakh will be determined based on the passbook, with the ration card rule implemented to identify families.

The loan waiver process will commence on the 18th of this month, with loans up to Rs 1 lakh being waived off on that day. The funds will be deposited into farmers’ accounts by the evening. The CM has confirmed that ministers, MLAs, and public representatives will participate in celebrations marking the loan waiver.

In a meeting with collectors, the CM issued strict instructions to bankers to ensure that the loan waiver funds are not diverted. He outlined the guidelines for the loan waiver scheme, emphasizing transparency and proper implementation.

The state government has released official guidelines for the crop loan waiver scheme through Government Order (GO RT No. 567), issued on Monday. The order details the modalities for implementing the scheme, which waives loans up to a maximum of Rs 2 lakh per farmer’s family. The white ration card (food security card) will be used to identify eligible families.

This policy applies to loans sanctioned and renewed from all scheduled, commercial, regional rural, and district co-operative banks effective from December 12, 2018. It includes crop loans outstanding until December 9, 2023, and short-term loans due by the same date. The waiver will cover the principal amount along with the applicable interest.

The decision to use the white ration card as the standard for family identification has faced criticism from opposition parties. In response, the CM has clarified the rationale behind this decision, aiming to address concerns and ensure the fair implementation of the loan waiver scheme.
