Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu today conducted a comprehensive review of the housing department. The meeting included State Housing Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy and senior officials from the concerned department. As part of fulfilling the election promise to distribute houses to the poor in villages, Naidu made a crucial decision during the meeting.
It was decided to allocate 3 cents of land in villages to new beneficiaries, and 2 cents of land to new beneficiaries in urban areas.
Minister Parthasarathy responded by announcing that the construction of 1.25 lakh houses will be completed in the next 100 days. He further stated that a total of 8.25 lakh houses will be constructed within a year. Parthasarathy criticized the previous government for neglecting the beneficiaries of NTR’s housing schemes, emphasizing that those who haven’t made payments even after the completion of their houses must do so. Additionally, he mentioned the establishment of MIG layouts for the middle-class population and the provision of affordable housing for journalists.
The meeting also addressed the transfer of house construction under the Polavaram project R&R to the Housing Department. Parthasarathy assured that the houses already under construction will be completed, and necessary facilities will be provided where the previous government had allocated houses.
He highlighted that the housing department had incurred a loss of Rs 10,000 crore due to the previous government’s mismanagement.
