Change of AP Governor, A need or normal?

Friday, November 15, 2024

The other day the Central Government changed the AP Governor all of a sudden which has raised discussions among the AP Political circles. Governor Vishwabhushan Harichandan got replaced with a renowned ex-Judge, Abdul Nazeer.

AP Government and its ex-Governor Vishwabhushan share a wonderful bonding, probably the best in the recent times of Indian Politics as they never had a single clash in the complete term. AP is the only state which had no issues with its Governor, especially in South India where other states have their own issues and Telangana made headlines almost every other month due to the cold war between KCR and the T-Governor Tamilisai. Coming to the state of AP, it can be termed as a sweet understanding between the CM and the Governor as the latter never created any hurdle.

When Jagan proposed the three capital bills by decentralizing the capital and shattering the APCRDA, the Governor supported it within no time. When the HC of AP rejected the bill, Governor supported it and even when Jagan took a U-turn on the 3 capitals and now proposed Vizag as its only capital, guess what Harichandan still got Jagan’s back. This unconditional support had become a key point that resulted in the replacement of AP’s Governor by the Center, according to the senior most Political ex-pats.

The new Governor sent by the Center, Mr. Abdul Nazeer was a former Judge of the Karnataka High Court and was later promoted to the Judge of the Supreme Court of India. He was on the bench that dealt with amazing cases like Ayodhya, Demonetization Act, Triple Talaq, etc with a lot of knowledge and experience. Experts say that AP needs such an experienced Governor as the Government has a habit of getting brickbats from Courts to Central Governments regarding the way it functions.
