Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu accused the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government of diverting Rs.3,385 crore from the funds given by the Center for the Polavaram project. It was revealed that the YCP government spent only Rs.4,161 crores for the Polavaram project in five years, as against Rs. 11,537 crore spent during the previous TDP regime.
He alleged that Rs.4,900 crores was lost due to the negligence of the YCP government and Rs.45,000 crores was lost to the farmers due to Polavaram delay. Releasing the first white paper on the Polavaram project along with Irrigation Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu, he accused the YS Jagan government’s incompetence of becoming a curse.

He alleged that on the day YS Jagan took oath as CM in 2019, ordered to stop Polavaram. Chandrababu said that the contractor was changed on baseless allegations and the project was destroyed in the name of reverse tendering.

On the other hand, between 2014-19 during the TDP regime 72 percent of the Polavaram project was completed. He lamented that more damage was done to AP during the YCP regime than the damage caused by the division of the state. Chandrababu said that the IIT Hyderabad experts said that the diaphragm wall was damaged in Polavaram.

He assured to take up corrective measures by bringing experts from the USA and Canada, making them stay here and supervise the work. Chandrababu expressed confidence that the challenges in the Polavaram project will be overcome with the cooperation of the central government and the support of international and domestic experts.

Chandrababu reminded that the TDP government achieved the Guinness Book of World Records by doing 32,215 cubic meters of concrete work in the spill channel in a single day. He said that during the previous TDP government, the construction works of the upper and lower coffer dams were completed while doing the head works.

Chandrababu mentioned that the construction of the diaphragm wall which is crucial in the project was completed in a record time of 414 days. Chandrababu stated that 72 percent of the Polavaram project work was completed during the TDP regime, and he made 28 field level visits and 82 virtual visits in a period of 5 years.
